It was early fall when we decided to take a hike down to Eagle Lake and check out the cabin we had read about. The road was somewhat treacherous with pot holes two feet deep littering the road and tree branches stretching out to scrape the sides of the truck.
Along the way we found a variety of berries and fall foliage. The scenery was beautiful and picturesque. Along the hike we saw an extreme variety of mushrooms and other fungi that we had never seen before. We ended up meeting some people from a local wilderness college that were out showing some of the new students around the area. They were friendly and had a few stories to tell. We also found a geo caching stop in the cabin which was interesting and actually seemed to help when it came time to light a fire.
All in all a great hike that was more difficult than anticipated due to the many fallen trees along the way.
